Qualifications of a good candidate
Big Picture
Category:
A qualified school board candidate should possess three key qualities: knowledge, experience, and motivation. Knowledge means understanding how education works — how policies, budgets, and outcomes connect. I hold a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and I’ve taught Computer Science at Bellevue High School through the TEALS program. I believe in using data, measurable outcomes, and evidence-based decisions to guide our schools.
Experience means listening and leading. I've knocked on more than 4,500 doors across Sammamish, Issaquah, Renton, Newcastle, and Bellevue, meeting thousands of parents, teachers, and taxpayers. I've heard their concerns firsthand — about academic standards, safety, and mental health — and I'm ready to represent all of them, not just a select few.
Motivation comes from personal commitment. Both my children, seven years apart, have attended district schools — one with special needs, the other gifted in math. I've seen the system at its best and at its worst. I'm running to restore accountability, academic excellence, and transparency so that every child can thrive.
If elected, I'll be the only board member with a graduate degree in engineering and 25 years of leadership experience, currently as a senior program leader at Google. I'm qualified, motivated, and ready to serve.
