The unfortunate reality of personal, cultural, and religious attacks

The campaign is aware of false and inflammatory claims circulating on the internet. Some of the comments on these points have also targeted other communities of faith. While disappointing, this reaction isn’t surprising: Chinmay is asking tough, evidence-based questions about school spending and outcomes. He is digging where they don't want him to dig.

This campaign will not engage in culture wars or respond to every unfair attack. But we will speak clearly when others attempt to misrepresent the campaign. Issaquah voters will look past the noise and focus on what truly matters: outcomes for students, trust for parents, and integrity in governance. We remain open to respectful questions and dialogue and are grateful to the many residents who continue to support fairness and substance in this race.

The data speaks for itself

Disinformation is designed to distract voters from reality.

The reality is that we don't know why student outcomes are falling and taxpayer dollars are disappearing *. Chinmay and his volunteer group have knocked on more than 500 doors as of this writing (Jun 21), and the sentiment is undeniable - mismanagement at best, and corruption at worst, have eroded the voter trust. Once trust is lost, it is very difficult to get it back. That's what the special interests fear the most.

  • Per-student spending in the Issaquah School District has nearly doubled since 2019

  • Standardized test scores have declined by as much as 18% in that same period in some schools

  • Only 3% of the general fund is allocated to Career & Technical Education (CTE)

  • Gifted students receive services worth just 0.5% of the general fund

  • Over 10% of the fund goes to district administration

  • Spending on Echo Glen and summer remedial classes has doubled, suggesting students are struggling

  • $140 million has been spent on an unfinished high school construction project. Field reports suggest that local contractors—many from minority communities—were outbid by large firms who then overran the budget. And yet, overcrowding and fire safety concerns persist.

  • 66% of middle schoolers surveyed by the district say the classroom does not bring out their best. About the same number say that the authorities do not listen to their feedback

  • Two bond measures have failed in spite of most voters acknowledging the importance of a good education. The levy vote will fail next year if we don't reestablish trust.

Chinmay is running on a platform of academic excellence, fiscal transparency, and safe, supportive learning environments. He is committed to supporting teachers, uplifting learning outcomes, and ensuring our tax dollars are used responsibly.
